GOSPEL 2020: "The History of the Gospel!"

The word "GOSPEL" wasn't created by the New Testament writers.  It was a dangerous word, commonly understood in the context of the cruel Roman Empire.  The word means more than just 'good news' or a type of modern-day music.  Let's go back in history and unpack the word the Holy Spirit used to describe the greatest news ever; the GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD! (Mark 1:1)  

GOSPEL 2020: "Kingdom? What Kingdom?"

Jesus said to Pontius Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this world."  What does that mean?  Where is Jesus' Kingdom then, and why is it important to you and me?  

GOSPEL 2020: "The Gospel of the Kingdom"

If someone tells you, "Hey, I've got good news!"  Your next words would probably be, "What is your good news?"  We talk a lot about the Gospel, but what is the gospel?  'Gospel' means 'good news.'  If we don't understand what the good news really is ourselves, how can we ever share it?  Don't lose your place in this message!  

GOSPEL 2020: "Our Eyeglass Prescription"

We can see people the way that Jesus saw people.  We must.  If we don't see people the way Jesus saw people, then we will never treat people the way Jesus treated people.  Come put on a pair of Jesus glasses that will inspire the Gospel in your heart!  

GOSPEL 2020: "An Unfinished Message"

My brother-in-law passed away while I was studying and writing this message.  I am broken-hearted.  We were close.  I was with his family most of the week 300 miles away from home.  So this message wasn't finished.  I changed the title and preached it anyway... because... the GOSPEL is never really FINISHED either.  It continues to move and change people as it transforms the born-twice toward it's ultimate end.  The Gospel of God's Kingdom in Christ is an UNFINISHED MESSAGE!

GOSPEL 2020: "How Did Jesus See People?"

How did Jesus see people?  And how did the way Jesus saw people differ from the way the religious leaders of his day saw people?  How do you see people today?  Is it more like Jesus saw them... or more like the religious leaders that had Jesus crucified at the hands of the Romans?  How we see people is the foundation for the gospel!

CHRISTMAS 2019: "The Pattern of Anna"

In Luke 2:36-40 we meet a very old widow and prophetess named Anna.  This significant person in the eyes of God reveals to us a pattern of how we should respond to Jesus.  Let's take our eyes and ears off the flashy and loud counsel of a world spinning out of control, and let's pay attention to Anna.  God speaks quietly but powerfully through her.  Merry Christmas.

CHRISTMAS 2019: "Waiting Amidst the Hustle and Bustle"

Christmas is a time of great hustle and bustle.  When Jesus was a baby, Jerusalem was a hustling bustling place as well.  When Joseph and Mary took Jesus there at 6 weeks old to fulfil the law, someone was there waiting for them.  Waiting for the most significant event and person the world had ever missed.  How can we keep from missing the purpose and will of God amidst the hustle and bustle?

CHRISTMAS 2019: "And There Were Shepherds..."

Luke 2:8-20 recounts the incarnation from the perspective of the shepherds.  But what kind of shepherds were they?  And what was this strange sign the angel gave to them?  And what do the details of Jesus birth mean, both to God's purpose and will, as well as to me today some 2000 years later?

This message is not a list of things you need to do to share your faith.  Neither does it answer the question of how you do it.  It highlights a few dynamic things that are of utmost importance, that, if true, will inspire and motivate you to share.
