HOPE FLOATS: "Peculiar Like Jesus!"

Our hope in Christ is tied to our willingness to embrace our peculiarity in this world as followers of Christ.  What does that look like?  What should that peculiarity look like?  It should look like Jesus!

HOPE FLOATS: The Hope of Being Peculiar!

Peculiar means 'unusual' and 'unique'.  The Bible calls believers out of the peculiar and strange of this world, which is a competition to be noticed... to a peculiar that is like Jesus.  Jesus was peculiar because He wasn't about Himself; He was about His Father, and about people.  While we wait for our hope in Christ to be realized, we are called to be a peculiar people... peculiar like Jesus!

HOPE FLOATS... But How Deep is the Water?

What if THE WORST thing you could imagine happened to you?  Would your HOPE IN CHRIST sustain you?  Or would you blame God and run?  The Bible says what happened to Israel coming out of Egypt was an example for us to learn from.  So let's look at their story through the lense of hope!  They faced many impossible situations.  What can we learn from them in the midst of this COVID 19 crisis?

"HOPE FLOATS!"

In this Corona Crisis, we need some hope!  Well, you won't find it in politics or media or a better self-esteem.  Hope is a person.  Hope is a trustful expectation in that person!  His name is Jesus!  And He has a purpose and a plan that we need to know and surrender too!  In Him, you will find not only hope, but you will find yourself!

COMMUNE: "The Cup..."

Where did the Communion Cup come from in the Last Supper?  And what does it mean to me and to the world?  This is a 'WOW'!  But will it make you to 'BOW'?  From which cup are you drinking?

commune: "My Body..."

We call it "The Last Supper".  But where did it come from?  The Communion Bread that Jesus offered to his disciples that night in remembrance of Him, goes way, way back!  And its meaning and the picture it paints contains masterful brushstrokes that only God Himself could canvas!  So, imagine your heart has a door.  The God of the universe wants to enter to do life with you!  Will you welcome Him in or not?

COMMUNE: "The Bread..."

What kind of bread did Jesus eat with His disciples when He instituted communion at the Last Supper?  And what was the significance?  What did it mean?  To commune with God means so much more than formal participation in the religious ritual of taking communion.  

GOSPEL 2020: "Gospel Light!"

The Gospel is a message from God, but that message is a Person.  Jesus is the Gospel!  Physical LIGHT is a major illustration of Jesus in the Bible.  Physical darkness is the absence of physical light.  Spiritual and eternal darkness is the absence of Spiritual light; that light being Jesus!  Come out of the confusion and fear into the light that Jesus offers!

GOSPEL 2020: "Everything Goes Back to the Gospel!"

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the meaning, purpose, and foundation of everything that everyone experiences in life.  The Gospel is woven into the fabric of human experience like the threads of a tapestry.  Most people never experience or even see this sovereign message from God that calls out to them in things like marriage, parenting, work, and even food; but the meaning is there.  Turns out our lives illustrate this message from God!  The Gospel is everything, we are called to surrender to it!

GOSPEL 2020: "Obligated, Eager, and Unashamed!"

It is the nature of fire to consume.  A fire that does not burn is a contradiction.  In Romans 1, the Apostle Paul is on fire.  He is fiercely passionate with the fire of the Holy Spirit over the Gospel!  That same Holy Spirit lives in you and me!  Though we are not Apostle Paul's, we are ambassadors for Christ!  We also are obligated, eager, and unashamed of the Gospel!
